Knox has a built-in backup function that is meant for its own vaults, just like 1Password for Mac’s backup function backs up just the 1Password data file. This function is not suitable for backing up your whole system.

For example, we store our source code in separate, per-project Knox vaults. We then use the built-in function in Knox to schedule backups for these vaults.

If you would like to back up your entire system, there are some great tools out there for this purpose, like OS X’s built-in Time Machine application and SuperDuper!, created by Shirt Pocket.

Note: Time Machine is not really a good match for bigger Knox vaults. We recommend excluding your Knox vaults from Time Machine’s preferences and using Knox’s own backup feature instead.
